Joint Data Desk Marketing
Ithaca, NY.

A new joint marketing agreement between Data Description and Sterling Innovations Group, Corning, New York will put Data Desk® to work in the process improvement efforts of a number of major corporations.

Sterling Innovations Group is a consulting firm that works with client corporations to initiate and manage improvement of industrial processes that range from manufacturing and inventory control to risk management and quality control. The group's approach to solving process problems integrates the best practices of a number of process improvement systems:

  • Lean;
  • Six-Sigma;
  • Total Quality Management;
  • and EDA Multilens®.

Statistics and exploratory data analysis are central to all of these methods, and Data Desk will travel with the experts from Sterling Innovations. "What we are offering companies," said Sterling Innovations consultant Jim Cendoma, "is a unique approach to managing process improvement. We send our management mentors to work through problems with teams from the client company— and we equip both sets of people with the software packages we have identified as being the best tools to meet those challenges. In the case of Data Desk, we liked the intuitive interface and ease of using the software in conjunction with other packages."

Data Description president John Sammis sees the agreement with Sterling Innovations Group as an avenue for introducing the company's flagship product to companies not yet aware of the software's usefulness in process management. "Right now there is a great deal of interest in effective methods for improving corporate performance," he said, "and what many companies have learned is that analyzing data plays an important role in the successful implementations. For years we have had customers like Ford Motor Company, Raytheon, and H. J. Heinz using Data Desk. Working with Sterling Innovations will demonstrate to other companies that Data Desk's visual and graphical tools can help them gain real insight into the important relationships that affect any process. "
