Corning Display Technologies is the world’s leading maker of glass to inside Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Displays. The fortunes of our business are largely tied to growth and penetration in the personal computing and television markets. With flat panel displays having become an affordable reality, we are experiencing phenomenal growth which has led to a shortage of glass supply.

In this environment it has become imperative for us to fully utilize our existing assets. One approach to doing this was for us to become more rigorous about our sales forecast. Through our corporate offices, we were put in contact with Sterling Innovations. With the help of Mike McDonald from Sterling Innovations, we launched a program using Six Sigma tools to improve our forecasting process and accuracy.

Although we are still in the final stages of our project, we have already begun to the desired improvements. We have made a significant impact to forecast accuracy which has lowered the amount of working inventory that we carry to meet day to day demand. Additionally we have been able to make significant inroads into reducing the complexity of our product line.

Mike and Sterling Innovations have been an important part of our success. Their depth of knowledge and understanding of tools for improving business processes has been a tremendous asset.
